90 Day Fiancé in Review
Recaps of The Other Way S6E13 and Before the 90 Days S7E4 - Let's discuss!
Spoilers below, obviously!

The Other Way, “There’s Something About JoJo”
I’m enjoying this variation of 90 Day more than a lot of the seasons that have run recently. The Other Way has been the superior spin-off ever since it gave us Kenny and Armando. It continues to provide some of the best couple drama without becoming too one note. It also let’s us be justifiably angry at Americans who do not want to accept that other countries truly do not exist just for Americans.
Corona & Ingi
I want to love Corona because I try to root for everybody black, but everything about this connection feels inauthentic. It feels like she rushed things because she wanted to be on TV and Ingi just sort of went along with it. She really didn’t know the due date for applications, but she did all this “research,” apparently? She didn’t even take one class on the language and assumed she could take classes in English because she did a Google Translate on the school website! Sorry, but she’s not a serious person! She knows Ingi doesn’t plan to propose, so go back home, finish school and learn Icelandic if you really wanna do this. I guess it’s great she found a group of black people to hang with, but even they told her to learn the language ASAP.
Josh & Lily
If there’s a couple I want to root for and love, it’s Josh and Lily! They’re both trying so hard and it seems like circumstances are just making it difficult for them. Josh seems perpetually jetlagged and Lily has gone bankrupt making a life for them. They knew Josh wouldn’t be able to work, so it’s kind of on Lily for spending so much money and creating this tension, but once the money is fixed, I think they could work! Lily wants romance and Josh is finally trying to give her some of that with dance classes. It does seem like she mostly wants sex though. Like, she did say, “just give me sex!”
James & Tata
They’re a disaster. Sorry. I don’t want to be mean, but what a disaster. Just a mess. What are we doing here? They both keep saying they can’t find work in Indonesia, but Tata refuses to accept the reality that James will probably have to go back to America. She knew from the beginning James wouldn’t be able to support them in the banana chip game! Stability is a requirement for James to have kids, so it makes sense he’s a bit hesitant right now. I don’t think a jewelry business will be enough. Go back home so you can stop crying over that goddamn dog.
Joanne & Sean
I have a new favorite person and it’s Sean’s daughter. When he tried to talk to her about his secret two year marriage, she made him feel so stupid! Of course she wanted them to get married, she also probably wanted to be involved because she’s a little girl! Weddings are supposed to be fun and you kept yours a secret. It was sweet that she forgave him, but she was right to say he needs a smarter brain.
I can’t wait for Dempsey and Statler to come back next week, I miss their lesbian drama at sea. At the very least, it feels like some of these couples do genuinely want to be together (not Dempsey and Statler, though). The online rumors say Corona and Ingi are industry plants, but James and Tata and Joanne and Sean are putting their real lives on the line. If you don’t get romance out of 90 Day, the next best thing is risk.
That’s what seems to be driving this season of Before the 90 Days and I can’t say it’s working.
